Weekend, weekend . . .

I’ve gotten a decent amount of writing done. Nothing to brag about, but better than nothing. I also sent out a few lingering stories. Huzzah! We’ll see what happens with those.

Most of my writing lately has been done in between helping Mr. Boyfriend with remodeling work. He bought a former rental house in a historic neighborhood (the same historic neighborhood I live in—yay!) and we’ve been working our buns off trying to get it looking decent (it had graffiti blocks on the side when he bought it. They are now hidden by a beautiful coat of Roycroft Adobe paint). We’ve finally finished all the big work today—the walls are all repainted inside and out, the nasty carpet’s been ripped out (carpet is the opium of the masses), and today we finally finished painting the concrete floors. We tried a soy stain, but it didn’t work due to the fact that the concrete already had a lot of paint on it that the stain couldn’t penetrate. So that didn’t work. We ended up using an adobe-colored concrete paint that looks absolutely awesome. If you ever get tired of your boring carpet and you’ve got a concrete foundation, painted concrete is the way to go. We painted four rooms with less than two gallons of paint, so no only does it look good, it’s cheap.
